Condea emoryi (formerly Hyptis emoryi), also known as Desert Lavender, is a desert shrub native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Here are the ideal growing conditions for this plant:

1. Sunlight

  • Full sun is preferred. It thrives in bright, direct sunlight and can tolerate high temperatures.

2. Soil

  • It grows best in well-draining soil, such as sandy or rocky soil commonly found in desert environments. It can tolerate poor, dry soils but needs good drainage to prevent root rot.

3. Watering

  • Drought-tolerant once established. Water regularly during the first growing season to help establish the roots, but after that, it requires minimal water. Too much water can harm the plant.

4. Temperature

  • Desert Lavender is highly tolerant of heat and high temperatures but is sensitive to frost. It can survive temperatures down to about 25°F (-4°C) but may suffer damage in colder conditions.

5. Wildlife Attractor

  • It is a great pollinator plant, attracting bees and other beneficial insects with its lavender-colored flowers.
